one of my darkest moments was when i realised that after watching a friend take off for a nearby auditorium to see van halen, i'd never have that opportunity. i watched van hagar and subsequently saw david lee roth. but his musicians carried his drunken ace. opening act was tesla. they rocked.

btw, cinderella opened for bon jovi later that same year and were WAY better than the boys from jersey.

For the last time, Guns N Roses are not an 80s hair band! When, besides the "welcome to the jungle" video, do you see them with hairspray in their hair? They didn't even get popular a until late '88 and they put an end to the hair bands. They were big from '89 to '95. That makes them a 90's hard rock band, not an 80's glam band. Axl rose once said the most insulting thing anyone called him was "Bon Jovi".

As for life in the eighties, it was the same as now, just with less technology and weirder fashion.
